Sobeys hosting this giveaway celebration while Canadians are still waiting on the company to keep its nearly decade-old cage-free promise reads like a total publicity stunt. Canadians don’t support keeping hens in cages!

  19. Debbie Wall says:

Life is no picnic for the hens Sobeys exploits for their eggs. They are imprisoned in barren, wire battery cages that are so small they cannot even stretch their wings. They are unable to engage in any natural behaviors, such as dust bathing. They never take a sweet breath of fresh air, feel the sun on their backs or feel the grass beneath their feet. Imagine living in an elevator that is so crowded you couldn’t even bring your picnic basket, standing on milk crates in your bare feet. Even the animals we raise and kill for food deserve a life worth living.
