  1. Amanda M. says:

Someone from another country recently asked me what our national identity/culture was, given how pervasive US culture is, especially where I am in Vancouver (Hollywood North). She’s someone extremely intelligent, so she wasn’t asking for the usual symbolic “beavers and politeness” nonsense, she really wanted to know what I felt was at the core of being Canadian. I thought for maybe 3 seconds before the word “socialist?” popped out of my mouth… followed by “yeah… I think that’s at the heart of it. As a Canadian, I’m proud to identify as a people who mostly govern themselves by Giving A Sh*t about other people.”

  2. Fay VanHorn says:

From a proud Canadian- We are polite, helpful and kind as a country. Almost too much do, sometimes. I am happy to bring up my family in Canada. Outdoor activities are encouraged, scenery is amazing, freedom is crucial, and it is simply the est country in the world,

  9. Fay VanHorn says:

I am a proud Canadian. Everywhere we travel our luggage and outerwear proclaim the fact. We live in small town BC and very little crime or conflict. Diversity and politeness are key words. We are happy to pass this country to our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I’m a proud Canadian. I served the better part of a decade in the Royal Canadian Navy, Work for the Department of National Defense. Have Lived or worked in every province and territory. There is far too much to list of what I am proud of in this country. I know we also have our faults, but one of my favorite things is that when we are pushed we take no guff and give no quarters. A Canadian never backs down from a challenge. And they never hesitate to lend a hand.

  14. Mary Ann Dudragne says:

What do I love about Canada? There is really no one thing I love… I love the freedom, diversity, kindness, land forms, history, and oh so much more. My father at age 9 1/2 came to Canada with his mother in Dec 1938 (My grandfather left his country and came to Canada before my Dad was even 1 yo.) My father made sure we knew how lucky we were to live in this beautiful country.
To this day, when I sing Oh Canada, or look up at our flag waving in the wind, or see an RCMP in red serge, or see a war veteran placing a wreath at the cenotaph… my eyes fill with tears and my heart is warm with pride for my country, our country — Canada. Oh Canada!!!

  18. Stephen Chessor says:

Canada is so special and there is no other place I would choose to bring up my family. We have scenery, opportunities for education and healthcare, politeness beyond ordinary, welcoming other cultures, and too many other things to cherish to mention. I love how people react so positively when we mention we are from Canada.

  22. daved styve says:

What j love about canada is how beautiful the woods are, and the activities avaliable in the wilderness.

  23. Janice Cournoyer says:

I have a passion about being Canadian. From our kind friendly personalities, that are recognized all over the world. The beauty from coast to caost is beyond amazing.. Our wildlife surpasses any around the world. But out people are our biggest strength. Diverse, educated, spirited, atheltic and very down to earth.

  24. Keenan says:

I love our nature, our kindness, and free healthcare. Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

  25. Deloris Christian says:

I was born at home in Sask. Canada. in a log house with my elder sisters helping my Mother deliver me. We were poor. No electricity and a wood stove to keep warm, so they put me on the oven door. I was 4 pounds and premature. My maternal grandparents came from Finland in 1902, were given a quarter of land and homesteaded. Why do so many people want to come live in Canada and not in their own countries? We have to ask our immigrants that. We know that Canada is big and beautiful. We are kind, thoughtful and grass roots laid back types. I had an American man ask me why Canadians are so calm? Now that’s a weird question. I have been to 30 countries and I brag Canada up wherever I go. Woe to anyone who comes to Canada and does harm to our country or people.

  26. MARGARET TRAMBLE says:

I was born in Canada very near to the US border and loved being Canadian. Our US friends were very close to us and we all got along great with some neighbors marrying their cross border sweet hearts. It would be a shame if that great relationship ever ends. However I love my country and the changing of the seasons and the various cultures who have settled here and have become proud Canadians. I sure do love my maple syrup as well as the great cross country skiing in winter months. And the hockey, well what else can I say.

  27. lucinda irving says:

I love the changing seasons, hockey, poutine, fresh maple syrup! The diversity is amazing! Hockey!!! The scenery from coast to coast is spectacular.

  28. D Keddie says:

I truly think we have the best national anthem.

  29. Meggan Watkins says:

In my job, I work with people from all over the world. Anytime I’m asked where I am from, they think “Vancouver” or “Edmonton”. When I provide a bit more context, “I am from the East Coast”, they say “Oh! Montreal! Toronto!” Unfortunately (or fortunately) where I am from is not well known. I am from the southern tip of Nova Scotia. A humble, coastal fishing village. It’s quiet, colourful, and calm. It’s the best place to call home!

  30. Janet Lance says:

I love so much about Canada and I am proud to be a Canadian. I love our 4 seasons. Sometimes I think it would be nice not to have Winter, but I know I would miss it. The summers can be so hot now that winter is a breath of fresh air. I love the people I meet, who in most cases are very pleasant. I think Canada is one of the most friendly countries. I love that we have such a diversity of Canadians, and in most cases, they are all accepted. I love that we accept people who they are, gay or lesbian, their chosen faiths, and more. I love that we have freedom of speech and can voice our concerns and recommendations to our governments and people in general. We are so lucky that we don’t have the severe weather that other countries are dealing with, floods, mega snowfalls, fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, and more. We experience some of these, but not as severe as other countries outside of Canada. Canada is a great place to raise our children. My mom had 16, 9 girls and 7 boys and we all did well. Mom died in 2003 at age 99, and my dad at age 63 in a car accident. I have 2 boys and they have done amazingly well in their careers and families. There is so much opportunity for kids today to get a good education if they choose to. I live in Ontario with my husband and 2 boys and their families and we would not want to live anywhere else. God Bless Canada!

  31. Amy Scott says:

I love Canada. Born and raised in Canada. We are the land of the free, and we have such beautiful nature coast to coast !

  32. Fay VanHorn says:

Canada, MY Canada. I am proud to have this land of freedom and diversity to raise my family. Whenever anyone asks where I am from, I don’t hesitate with a happy “Canada”

  33. joyce stempkowsky says:

I have traveled the world and have never found a country better than Canada. I proudly wear a Canada pin everywhere I go and give one to others in the world when I travel. They are always so happy to hear that I am Canadian, from the best county is the world!

  34. Fay VanHorn says:

In these days of uncertainty it is importand to identify as Canadian, the best country in the world. Mark your luggage and your outerwear with a canadian maple leaf to receive a wrm welcome everywhere. Thats one thing I love about Canada.

  35. marmar says:

i found while travelling throughout the world that Canadians were given very open arms welcomes i guess our reputation is being friendly polite people

  36. Leanne Brasch says:

I love Canada because it is a safe place to live. The country is widespread and absolutely beautiful.

  37. Judith MacIntosh says:

I adore Canada! I was born on the East Coast (New Brunswick), lived in Ottawa for 10 years, and now live in Beautiful British Columbia. What I am most proud about is Canadian humility! Also proud that we embrace other cultures (we don’t try to “make them” into us, we celebrate their culture and what it brings to Canada–our Cultural Mosaic)! Canadian people are kind! Canadians across the world are loved and respected. We have a great sense of humour and we know how to spell “humour” with an additional “u” 🙂 Also, just want to say that I bought my first pair of skis at Home Hardware in a small NB town and I’ve continued to shop there through my life!

  38. Mark Randmaa says:

Canada is home. It’s vast, breathtaking landscapes, from the Rockies to the Maritimes, remind me of freedom and possibility. Our winters may be cold, but our hearts are warm. We welcome the world with open arms, embracing diversity and unity like nowhere else. The maple leaf isn’t just a symbol—it’s a promise of kindness, resilience, and strength. Hockey, Tim Hortons, and “sorry” might define us, but our true identity is in our people: hardworking, compassionate, and proud. I love Canada because it represents peace, opportunity, and the unwavering spirit of a nation that stands tall, no matter what.

  39. Tom Snell says:

I deeply value the freedoms we enjoy in this country, along with the peace and relative safety of our land. As well, the natural beauty and pristine, unspolied regions of Canada are, in my opinion, unmatched by any toher place in the world. I’m proud to be a Canadian and to see Canada as a respected country around the world.

  40. Janet Lance says:

I am so proud to be Canadian, especially at a time like this when there is so much Turmoil with President Trump in power. He is trying to hurt us but we won’t step back and cater to his demands and we hope our leaders won’t either. I am more proud to be a Canadian now than ever. We have to fight now to keep our Country of Canada separate from the USA. We are independent and have so much to offer other countries without Mr. Trump forcing us into meeting his demands and ridiculous ideas.

  41. Cathy Quane says:

I love Canada because we are a nice group of people, we have the most unique places to explore from coast to coast ocean lakes and Mountains galore. We invented Basketball, hockey, and so much more. Cheezies, coffee crisp, aero ( mint is to die for) Mr Big caramilk, Big Turk, Crunchie are the best chocolate bars in North America. Talented musicians, and actors all from Canada. Let’s not forget Universal Health care. I love Canada

  42. Fay VanHorn says:

Canada, a place I am proud to be from. Living here is amazing- scenery, outdoor activites, freedom, eduation, medical, and the list goes on. I would never live in another country

  43. Janet McDowall says:

I am so proud to be a Canadian. Canada is the best country in the world. This is just not idle talk- Canada really is the best country in the world. We are good decent people who do our best to help other people and we are kind and generous towards everybody- whether they be black- brown- white or green. We have a strong faith and we we are strong and hard working. We will all stick together for Canada against Trump. We love our American family and would never do anything to hurt them. But- we have to look out for Canada at this terrible time. Janet

  44. Kyle miller says:

  47. Ken Carlson says:

I feel so lucky to be born in Canada, which is one of the best countries in the world. We where treated with respect, wherever we travelled. we are known worldwide as a friendly country full of opportunity and so many would like to come here. It is so large and different from one province to another, so you have to have lots of time to see it all. Fall is my favorite time here, but it is good all year. Hope you have time to come see us.

  48. Rick says:

Proudly Canadian, always have been and always will.
