Bill, Frances is an illusion. Frances is the background music you hear for twenty minutes while waiting to speak to someone at the bank. Frances is a non-specific entity, provided by Artman in the interest of journalistic integrity and human diversity.

Hey Paul … I don’t believe ARTMAN has created this FRANCES persona . Artman may be a bit sarcastic at times , but I do not believe he has created Frances for the purpose of human diversity , and certainly not journalistic integrity . I’m going with a lonely , miserable , little old lady living in her own little world , somewhere in the bowels of quebec .
Bill, Frances is that unremitting voice of reality. She is helpful in reminding all of us of contest odds of winning. She doesn’t reduce hope, or pleasure, as much as she lowers what could be unrealistic expectations. She certainly could not be seen as a “quitter”. If nothing else she has perseverance. I believe her comments serve as “fuel” to keep her going and not to give up.
