   From ‘westside story’…the character maria sings the song. In the musical, Maria is not yet aware that her love, Tony, has just killed her brother Bernardo ( gang war ) In the bridal shop where she works, Maria sings about being happy and feeling pretty because she is “loved by a pretty wonderful boy”..it starts like this:

   I feel pretty,
   Oh, so pretty,
   I feel pretty and witty and bright!
   And I pity
   Any girl who isn’t me tonight.

   I feel charming,
   Oh, so charming
   It’s alarming how charming I feel!
   And so pretty
   That I hardly can believe I’m real. ..and it goes on..it is quite a long song..great play..sad synopsis in many ways though…

   hey anon, actually it is HER..hope is a girl’s name..that would be moi and actually i saw this musical as a live play plus the movie that was filmed in 1961 as i enjoy older movies and musicals..as for the song..i sing that around my house when doing housework..why? because i am married to a fabulous guy for 33 yrs..ha ha..;)) thanks artman..i will take my bow now…tee hee..
