Enter here every day for a chance to win an 8-Day Vantage Rhine Culinary Discovery River Cruise for 2. I have a cruise question: is the entire cruise spent in the water? Or do they give you a chance to visit whatever cities are nearby? I feel like I’d get bored on a boat after a few days. Good Luck!

to answer your question….like all cruises ..passengers get the opportunity to get off the cruise ship..and peruse the port cities that are visited on the itinerary….passengers get a chance to book a ‘tour’ and pay for it before they leave the ship and are picked up by a tour vehicle/tour guide and escorted to highlighted historical famous areas to visit..or passengers just get off the ship and walk the area themselves…depending on the port where the boat docks…this latter mode is not always possible as the city may be many miles away etc…i have to say though…i have done it several times and cruising is so much FUN! with most cruises..they are on the oceans..whereas this cruise is via the country’s rivers…have never done this type of travel….and hope to one day! they look awesome!
oh PS…..ocean cruise ships are obviously HUGE compared to river cruise ships which are much smaller and more intimate in nature…but u get spoiled on both! the scenery is beautiful, the food and drinks divine, the service attentive and it is an overall wonderful experience!
