Life at the Lake

Cottage season is upon us and with it, a chance to spend lazy summer weekends down by the lake, basking in the sun. Whether you’re attending a party at a friend’s place, spending the weekend with family, or celebrating someone’s new cabin purchase, today I’m featuring a handful of great gift ideas to make lake living amazing this summer.

Gallant and Jones Beach ChairsBeach Chairs – From $154 @ Gallant & Jones
If your idea of a great weekend is plunking yourself down on the beach for the afternoon, then you’ll want to invest in one of these awesome beach chairs. Handcrafted in small batches from locally-sourced North American White Oak, these Canadian-made chairs are as comfortable as they are stylish and durable. Easy to carry and fun to customize, this is a fabulous housewarming gift for your son or daughter that just got their first lake property.

Ship's Wheel Cheese BoardShip’s Wheel Cheese Board – $150 @ Pottery Barn
Summer hosts and hostesses will love this nautical-themed cheese board made from rich mango wood. Designed to look like the wheel of a ship, there’s more than meets the eye – several of the spokes can be removed to reveal cheese knives for whatever fine fromage you’re serving up. It’s an excellent and elegant wedding gift for any beachside weddings you’re attending this summer.

Eva Solo Tabletop GrillsEva Solo Tabletop Grills – $299 each @ SHOP.ca
Summertime is grilling time, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you want the maintenance or security concerns of parking a big ol’ grill on your patio while you’re not at your cabin. Enter these compact yet effective tabletop grills, which deliver ample cooking power while taking up minimal space. Bonus – they’re totally transportable, so you can bring one down to the beach or out in the woods for on-the-move eats.

Indigo Lake and Canoe CollectionsIndigo Lake and Canoe Collections – From $10
Proof that a little can go a long way – these various trinkets and decorative items are perfect for those who look forward to their lake weekends, without busting your budget. A cute mug or tea towel makes for a great houseguest or hostess present, and these two lines integrate perfectly for a summery, vibrant collection. As a heads up – they are selling out fast so if you see something you love, jump on it!

RenovaRenova Paper Products – From $1.97
Summertime is all about bright colours and sunshine – and Renova, a European paper products brand, is totally all for it! They’ve saturated household staples in cheerful hues from vibrant magenta to cool blue, allowing you to liven up every room – from a box of tissues on a nightstand to citrus-hued TP in the bathroom to eye-popping napkins at dinner. Apart from their sensational shades, many of Renova’s products are also lightly scented. And if the powerful hues are a little unfamiliar – no worries, the brand is famous for its double-faced products, meaning one side is brightly coloured while the other is basic white. It’s a fun way to clear out the cobwebs of your summer home and add some energy to every space.
