paulaQUESTION ABOUT FACEBOOK CONTESTS — I have avoided them because I don’t want companies to access my account/friends etc. If you enter facebook contests ( they seem to be increasingly the majority) did you set up a separate facebook account?

SusanBI did make a separate one, and then it got all mixed up so I surrendered and just use my regular facebook. I made sure that I ticked them all ‘only me’ so no one else sees my crazy contest entering addiction.
March 16, 2012 at 1:57 pm #29943I use a separate one too, although, like SusanB, I sometimes forget which one I’m using and things get mixed up.

paulaThank you Susan and Mike. I still have no idea how to set up a second accounts ( although I suspect you need 2 email addresses) and how to assure the one you use for contests will connect to the contest site.
March 17, 2012 at 11:44 am #29986Yeah, you’d need another email address to set up the new account. And as for making sure you use the right one for contests, it’s just a matter of which account you last used to log in to Facebook. If you click a link for a Facebook contest, you’ll be able to tell right away which Facebook account is being used. If it’s the wrong one, you can log out of Facebook and sign in with the other account.

paulaTHANK YOU!
I have new email and facebook accounts. I am so glad I did it this way — entering just a few contests has filled up pages of the new facebook wall with advertising. Now, fingers crossed.
I really appreciate the adviceMarch 19, 2012 at 10:21 am #30064Glad to help!

BrandyI have an entirely separate e-mail and facebook account solely for contest use. It has worked great for me and I don’t have the guilt of spamming my friends with my contest entering ways

KirkI set up a separate account to avoid spamming people, and so that I could ‘Like’ any product pages for the contests even if I don’t care for the product. When I first set it up, I won a convection oven before I even had any friends on that account, so some dont even look at your profile. although I did encounter a couple that said you must have at least 10 friends to enter. I asked around on some forums and found some people so I’m at 11 and counting that I share invites and such with.

Jennifer HartI DO NOT HAVE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT,I DO NOT WANT A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW,BUT I DO AGREE THAT IT APPEARS THAT MORE CONTESTS ARE BECOMING GEARED TOWARDS FACEBOOK-STILL IF CREATING AN ACCOUNT WERE THE ONLY WAY TO ENTER CONTESTS I WOULD NOT DO IT.

ChuckI created a contesting Facebook and, to not get confused, only access it from my Firefox browser (where I do 99.8%) of my contesting, and my real Account is only accessed from my IE browser – makes life easier and I have total control over who has any info about me… I am starting to hate having to give out my date of birth just to enter a contest, seems like ripe info for Identity Theft scammers to be trying to harvest.
Have a great one ! “Live Long and Prosper”May 6, 2012 at 10:20 pm #32244
